ABOUT
THE ATELIERAtelier Fleurette is a Toronto-based floral design atelier devoted to the intersection of botanical material, spatial composition, and human gathering.
Botanical materials are treated as living systems, fully present yet inevitably impermanent, existing between structure and decay.
Floristry is approached as a design discipline and an act of quiet hospitality.
This perspective guides a practice grounded in the mindful use of natural materials, respect for the growers who cultivate them, and care for the land that sustains them.
DESIGN APPROACH
Design at Atelier Fleurette is grounded in movement, restraint, and seasonality.
Each composition is created with a clear point of view, allowing space, direction, and the natural pull of gravity to remain present. Botanical materials are treated as living forms and are arranged with attention to form and silhouette.
Many of the materials chosen for the atelier’s work carry a gentle downward gesture. Nodding bell-shaped blooms and trailing stems acknowledge gravity and the quiet life beneath them, serving as a gentle reminder that flowers bloom not only for human eyes but also for all other creatures that live among them.
Inspired by the ravines and woodlands of Southern Ontario, the Boreal forests of Northern Canada, and the quiet discipline of East Asian design traditions, Atelier Fleurette approaches floral design as a series of botanical compositions that feel both sculptural and alive.
THE FOUNDER
Davinia studied neuroscience and spent a decade in the technology industry, most recently working in robotics. This work shaped a foundation in systems thinking, movement, perception, and engineered structure, and continues to inform her approach to botanical design.
Alongside her work in technology, she pursued hands-on experience in hospitality and horticulture. She later studied horticulture and sustainable landscape design at Humber Polytechnic, deepening her interest in plant materials.
At Humber Polytechnic, her understanding of plants evolved not as isolated elements but as living systems in relationship to one another and to their ecosystem.
This naturally led her to floristry, as it allows her to express her deep love for flowers through botanical compositions.
Her practice is shaped by curiosity and a quiet reverence for the invisible structures at work. Working directly with plants, alongside her experience in service environments, revealed the subtle ways people move toward, respond to, and gather around living things.
She is drawn to the quiet intelligence of the natural world: the way foliage reaches toward light, how branches fracture and lean, how flowers bud and blossom, how fruit ripens and returns to the earth. Insects are drawn to flowers by colour, scent, and shape, small encounters that reveal the relationships sustaining each bloom.
In the same way, Davinia is drawn to flowers for their fleeting beauty, silhouette, and quiet presence within a space. With careful observation and restraint, she composes with what already exists, while it lasts.
Atelier Fleurette welcomes inquiries for private ceremonies and weddings, brand and hospitality installations, and custom floral commissions.
